A native of Tallahassee, Florida, soprano Kathleen Den Bleyker-Thomas holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Barry University and a Master’s Degree in Voice and Choral Conducting from Florida Atlantic University. She studied Opera and Lieder in Salzburg, Austria.
Ms. Thomas is the Voice Instructor at Texarkana College as well as the Musical Director for the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Jefferson, TX. She has previously held adjuncting positions at Panola College, Kilgore College and East Teaxas Baptist University.
Thomas has previously lived and worked in Houghton, New York and South Florida. She was a Professor of Voice at Houghton College and a highly sought private voice teacher and soloist. Previous to that, she was the Soprano Soloist and Assistant Conductor for Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, as well as making frequent appearances on the internationally broadcast “Coral Ridge Hour.” Additionally, Thomas has extensive performance credits, in both Opera and Musical Theater. Roles include Ado Annie/Oklahoma, Fiordiligi/Cosi fan tutti, Hansel/Hansel & Gretel, Mabel/Pirates of Penzance, Mercedes/Carmen, Mother/Amahl and the Night Visitors, Pamina/Die Zauberflöte, Rosalinda/Die Fledermaus, Princess Puffer/Edwin Drood, Drunken Wife/Spoon River Anthology. She originated the role of Delilah in the world premiere of the musical Friday, Saturday, Sunday. She is also an active soloist, having been featured in Dvorak’s Te Deum, Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, Rossini’s Sabat Mater, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Brahms’ Liebeslieder Waltzes, Shubert’s Mass in G, Stainer’s Seven Last Words of Christ, Rutter’s Gloria, and Handel’s Messiah.
